MADRID, May 21 (Xinhua) -- SD Huesca made history when the clubfrom the north of Spain won their first ever promotion to theSpanish Liga Santander on Monday night.
The club won 2-0 in Lugo to assure they are promoted to theSpanish top flight with two games remaining in the current seasonin the Spanish second division (Liga 123).
Goals from Alex Gallar and Jorge Pullido put Huesca 2-0 up byhalftime, although they had to replace goalkeeper Alex Remiro withRoberto Santamaria after Remiro was left groggy for saving a shotwith his head.
Lugo pressed hard in the second half, but were unable to beatSantamaria.
Huesca are coached by Juan Francesc Ferrer 'Rubi' who haspreviously worked with clubs such as Valladolid and Levante andlast year spent a spell at Sporting Gijon although he was unable toprevent their relegation from the top flight.
Sunday sees the penultimate round of matches in the Liga 123with Madrid based Rayo Vallecano favorites to confirm their placein the top-flight if they are able to win their home game, which isalso against Lugo.
Two teams win direct promotion from the Liga 123, and the 3rd,4th, 5th and 6th finishers enter play-offs for the final place.Enditem
